Matthew Jennett was born in New Haven, Connecticut, USA, in March 1942. He was educated at Blackrock College in Dublin, Ireland, and at the University of Connecticut. Α writer, translator, sculptor, painter, photographer, jazz guitarist, printer and book designer, he has exhibited and published widely in these areas, especially on contemporary American improvisational music and members of American Association of Creative Musicians (AACM). With his wife, Sheila Jennett, he originated and developed Pharos Books in 1973, which promotes literary modernism from 1850 to the present. He was Curator of Rare Books, Special Collections and Archives at The American College of Greece for more than 12 years and initiated the Kimon Friar Lecture Series with associated publications, among other activities. His family roots are in Iconion, Asia Minor.
